it sucks a guy from my town died at glamis a few wks back with full riding gear on and helmet and these a-holes zip around and race without any protection...

 

I missed something. What makes these guys a-holes? I have a close friend who doesn't where a helmet, I can't convince him to yet he certainly isn't an a-hole. He is a really nice guy..............

Can't you understand man? He lived in Chris's town, he rode an atv like Chris, he rode a car like Chris, and he also dipped Granola bars in milk like Chris. Its uncanny, yet true. And now, there is never going to be a chance they might meet in the future. A-holes!

I think what he is reffering to is the idea that when people die in atv related accidents the whole sport pays a price. The last thing we want as a community is more government regulation. People who are injured because they do not wear at least a helmet are hurting our sport by making us look like a bunch of out of control savages. Yjacket what exactly are you trying to say. Chris was making a point that even with protective gear accidents happen. The incident he was reffering to hit close to home for him because the guy travelled accross the country for some fun and came home in a casket. The guy lay bleeding at the bottom of a dune with no help. I don't get your point.

So you are saying you don't like people not wearing helmets because the government will regulate wearing helmets? Well not only does that not make sense, but FL motorcycles don't wear helmets and fill graveyards multiple times daily from motorcyclists who don't wear helmets. Average life of a full time motorcyclist in FL is 6 months, I've heard. The guy who rides dunes at night without one though may fall into Darwin theory eventually though.

What are you trying to say? I believe mine was like yours except more continuous and logical. Yours are totally random events that happen every day, with no significance between any two statements. Since the thread lost the scientific approach being diverged from the most spectacular drag races I've ever seen, is there a prescribed thought pattern that must be adhered to per FatHolly for pure subjective conjecture posts? Heck, I watched it a dozen times and couldn't even tell if wearing a helmet or not on 19" Samsung 900dpi flat screen. So if we can't acknowledge a spectacular scientific event, I can be touchy-feely too. But by all means, please tell me how to read, react, think, and post about every subject, in scientific adult postand parent/child subjective conjecture posts as well.

 

Too late Chirochris, you already ruined this thread for me. But since it already ruined, There are a few of us that actually have good medical reason not to wear a helmet. Please, dont put us all in the same "Idiot Pile". Further, if its legal not to wear one, in my opinion, people have the choice. If there are those that want to rant on other people for thier legal choice, then that boils down to nothing more than a political argument - and I HATE politics on ATV threads.

 

I like to wear a helmet cause it keeps the mud, bugs, out of my face...also wear goggles...but no helmet laws here in PA and thats the way it should be!
