I think because you are into sport quads you, might be thinking its a bigger market than the ute market, but from what I told and what I have read the Ute market is actualy the bigger of the two and why you see a focus on it from BRP. I also think the Biger named brands better lookout because BRP is building allot of momentum and seems focused on making it to the top, this is just the beging of what they are going to do.

The only thing a flagship model does from a business standpoint is say "Hey look at my brand, look what we can build". And the idea behind that is to get customers into the door to buy reasonable priced quads. But you got to have up to date reasonable priced quads first>>>>>
BS, BRP can't even keep up with demand.

the real niche market is going to be a lightweight 4x4 that can run circles around these big heavy @ss, bikes. true, some will always want these gargantuan machines for bragging rights, but they arent going to be braggin when they get passed by a ligther bike, making more hp and out handles them.
and back to BRP, it doesnt send a flag to someone that the BRP division was spunoff from the Bombardier INC for a reason? IT was sinking, wasnt profit making and caused reorganizations within the company. Bombardier makes air travel, transit, etc stuff and they are used to big sales figures, big dollars. the ATV/rec wasnt doing it for them. WHen they dumped this division their profits started returning. Go see for yourself and put 2 + 2 together on the timeline.
and now the name change hoping to "recapture" something it had back in the 70's (you can verify all this info from the Bombardier inc site and the BRP site). Now, if it has to "recapture" something, apparently it "lost it" to warrant such a statement by their executives. So the name change is hoping to put some flame on a dying ember... if it doesnt turn around, CAN-am, brp or whatever they call theirselves next will not be making atvs 5yrs from now if they dont change their strategy and their executives know this.
THe familiar, reliable, japanese atv manufacturers will continue to outsell them by 5-1 margin at least. no one is going to stay in business, keeping an unprofitable division open if they are not selling products. i dont care how unique it may seem. Its not unique enough to be worth nearly 10K. i know i might aggrevate some brp, sorry, can am fans but you have got to see how business works; their own parent company didnt want them anymore....

Twentycharacters - What is the Honda forum experiencing technical difficulties? If you dislike Bombardier so much, why spend so much energy talking smack about them? Seems to me your a "closet" BRP fan. Grow some huevos, come out of the closet.

With all of the PERFORMANCE upgrades the price is probably cheaper. I have the 06 800, wished i would have known and waited for the renegade. It goes like this, when you give the people what they want it costs more not less.try and buy one, i bet they go like hot pancakes.ride hard like you wont be here tomorrow.

Could you please post some links to your "facts" such as quarterly earnings vs. a year ago, yearly sales figures vs. last year, P&L statement's that show how much the company actually earned etc....You are making some pretty general assumptions without backing them up with facts.
How do you "lose" something you never had? BRP is pretty new to the ATV world and is trying to establish a brand and an identity. You don't just walk into an already well established market and expect your brand to be embraced by the masses....Look how long it took Honda, Toyota, Nissan etc. to become widely accepted as being as good or better then the American auto makers? Look how long it's taken Hyundia to lose the "cheap" image? People recognize Ski Doo, Sea Doo, Yamaha, Honda.........you mention Bombardier and they are like HUH? You mention BRP and they are like HUH? What name SHOULD BRP call their ATV's?? Land Doo's?? I don't think that would catch on. BRP is marketing to the buyer who is of better means and actually understands that quality is remembered long after price is forgotten, their products are tough as nails, durable and reliable...in other words, you get what you pay for. The guy walking into his local Yama or Honda dealer looking to get his first quad<s> would probably never consider BRP/Can-Am, the casual six times a year rider isn't going to either. I think you'll find that most BRP customers are strong converts from the "popular" brands rather then beginners/first time buyers.

In the street bike crowd, there are hordes of Japanese models to choose from. Just pay attention as you drive down the "superslab". Honda's, Yamaha's, Suzuki's, and Kawasaki's by the thousands. It won't take you long to notice just how many of the Jap bikes are out there. However, if you were paying attention, every once and a while you noticed something different. They looked different, sounded different, and we're drawing attention everywhere they went. That bike was a Harley Davidson. Yes, Harley Davidson. These people would never dream of owning "Jap Crap". These riders stand out. They don't want to blend into the mainstream. They don't want to ride what "everyone" else is riding.
In the ATV world, BRP/Can-Am is the Harley Davidson equivalent. Something different, something unique. Blend in and be a carbon copy, or not, it's your choice.
