Pricing for Renegade is here!!!

Hey Twenty, I'm curious as to what financials you were looking at. Bombardier finalized the sale of the Rrecreational vehicles division in december of '03 and those finacials reflect that sale for $900 + million, so you have to go to years prior to see a breakdown for the recreational vehicle segment. Unless you can determine distribution of taxes/interest, etc. the recreational vehicle segment showed a ebit profit all the way back to 1994.
As far as selling a profitable division, when a company is refocusing it's core business, and no longer desires to be in a market, this a smart (and common) way to clean up the balance sheet with a cash infusion.
Let's at least state the facts for what they are. I am intrigued by this renegade and will probably purchase one if they make it any color other than yellow!!

You seem to have a fascination for BRP even thought your quad pedegri(sp?) has been Honda/Yam
All you do is put the brand down
I like Kawi btw for quads
and have a Cat for a sled
Got to love you brand bashing people, always looking for something to bash
Like I mention earlier it would be nice to see Honda/yam or other respond to the Renegade
YES we all know you will not buy that TYPE of Quad so why are you even bothering putting it down?

id would buy the type of quad IF it were lighter and wasnt almost 10K-- if they can get it to, like, 400lbs or less, id consider it. really (and the price lower). a HP lightweight 4x4 is the next thing in atvs. i do not want a tank. they or any OEM can apply that technology to a 4x4 ATV. i know honda was testing one ...

Let's at least state the facts for what they are.
it still brings me back to why they sold it in the first place. they didnt introduce an atv until 1997 or 1999, so why quote it back to me from 1994? that's nearly pointless. FORD was at one time the RICHEST AUTO maker in the world ..ARE they now, NO...They are struggling along with GM. So, data that is too old is irrelevant and has no bearing on your argument, nor subverts what i said. Furthermore, i never argued about their PWC or snowmobiles, i am merely stating that the atv segment of that division was losing, or not gaining marketshare..so they sold it b/c they wanted out... however you want it worded.
they sold it and it is now privately owned so the records are not public on BRP. BUT BOMBARDIER's 10K,8K, etc is ALL online. you can read them and put 2+2 together, comparing timelines and press releases of why they really sold out.
you can also go to BRP and read...
so yes, please state the facts. An excerpt for you:
"Powersports segment revenues reached $1,875.3 million for fiscal 2006 as compared to $1,935.6 million for fiscal 2005. The decrease in revenues was primarily caused by:
-reduction in the number of units sold for $46 million."
"BRP launches its 2007 Can-Am ATV line-up. Can-Am is back. To reignite the passion."
your witness, counsel...

I can tell this stuff tweaks you so i'll play along for awhile! As you know, the recreational vehicle segment is more than just atv's, so if you can distinguish that the sale of atv's only was not profitable than I want you to manage my portfolio. Up until the point of sale the recreational vehicle segment was EBIT profitable. Historical data proves this back to 1994. There is a distinct difference between a portion of your business segment losing marketshare compared to that entire segment losing money, which was your original point.
"no company in their right mind would sell a profitable division- its retarded. companies sell dogs - the things that are NOT making $$$ to unload them."
"and back to BRP, it doesnt send a flag to someone that the BRP division was spunoff from the Bombardier INC for a reason? IT was sinking, wasnt profit making and caused reorganizations within the company"
Instead of making assumptions by reading press releases, I let the numbers speak for themselves and the numbers show that they sold a profitable business segment. A decline in revenues does not dictate a decline in profits.
Marketing is a wonderful thing and when you want to create a stand alone identity to distinguish yourself from an entity you are no longer associated with, why not revive a name that has success associated with it. They could have gone with a slogan like"we suck, please buy our stuff", but "reignite the passion" is a little more catchy when you introduce a new product to the marketplace.
And I'd prefer if you'd address me as your Honor..counsel has a bad connotation to it....

Hmmm in 1999 when they started they had only one model, today 18 models (XT's, Max's etc.) for 2007 year. Outlanders win all the shootouts(most of the models are Outlander variants). No manufacture has won more ATV OF THE YEAR awards than BRP and they only been in the ATV business for 7 years.
They are building a huge ATV factory in Mexico(profits will go up).
Please; BRP will not go out of business in five years.
Wouldn't want twentycharacters to manage my portfolio.

You mean like selling GMAC?? Care to explain that one? GMAC was one of their most profitable divisions. Sears sold Allstate...A cash cow. Back in the 80's Lucky stores inc. sold off Kragen Auto Parts which was very profitable and still is. Didn't Apple just sell Pixar to Disney?
BTW, BRP CAN'T KEEP UP WITH THE DEMAND FOR THE OUTLANDER 800 OR 650, Rotax can't make the engines fast enough.....Again, explain how they won't be able to sell a $9K ATV?? I'm just not following your logic.

Was this decrease projected? You do realize that the for the first 9 months BRP had basically produced only three quads, the Outlander400, Baja 650 and the Rally.........the DS250 and Outlander 800 were not released until late in the year. By Jan. of next year BRP will have expanded from 3 models to as many as 8-10 in less then two years. I'm expecting the Renegade to be released in a 650 and a 500 version (prob. why they made the 500 a v-twin?) and we keep hearing rumors of a 450 sport quad and maybe an updated DS650-700EFI. I don't think it's BRP's goal to be #1 in the ATV market, they simply want to build the best quality/features into their machines and price them accordingly.
There is more money in the high end market but you suffer market share, it's a trade off. It seems BRP has tapped into this consumer. BMW and Mercedes are certainely not close to #1 in market share but that sure doesn't stop people from shelling out big cash for them. Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten.
I once scoffed at my mother for spending $1k for a Kirby vacuum 21 years ago, I was like "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME MOM".....WELL, today, I am using that same Kirby and it works as good now as it did then.
