The way I know that the cons outweigh the pros regarding direct carb mount filters is found in the e.t. from the start of the dyno run to peak power is markedly slower. Even with a little more peak power, You will be late getting to your shift point.............IMHO

besides, we can't totally downplay the carb mount, I need somebody to buy it from me off e-bay!

True that Ron, very good point for many applications, but on a run as long the valley on sand mt., it might could have a use, you're going from a 4 second race to a 15 to 20 second race and 3 extra ponies maybe could help make up a few lost tenths on that long stretch home and its a continuous grade and your rpm does not hardly change at all the whole climb once you're past the whoops. I dunno, like I always say I'm not really a drag racer but just throwing out that tidbit in case it strikes somebody.

Yeah, I will admit that you may have found the scenario where the extra peak hp on your build with the direct mount might be the wise choice.
There is a good lesson in this. I need to be more flexible and willing to do things my experience cautions against when it is in fact the smart thing to do under the circumstances. That is not the easiest thing for me
I hope I find that smart setup when I visit Utah or Jed and Mario will never let me hear the end of it
Actually if I was a little less secure, I would make a trip down there in August just to dial in to prepare for those characters!

You are in for a suprise Ron... Due to the tuning and performance going up higher.
Not to talk smack, But your gonna need a heavy hit of nos to run with these 2 stockbores unless you are down to 350LB range and 100hp. The big bore wont gain the ground alone. Ya better fine tune that nos to because the elevation will change that around to. Then again your bike might be lightening fast maybe the fastest in the world..... Dont worry I will run you on all motor. I dont think ill need the nos. And dont worry about the race gas Its only oxygenated VP. There are alot of things that you wouldnt think of when going up against a giant hill. I cant tell you till after ds days.

Thanks Mario
I have a couple questions about NOS that you should be able to answer before DS days...........
When running a hill as long as the Valley, can you stay on the button the whole way?
U4 has nitromethane as an oxygenator, right? Do you run that with NOS?
Ron
Why would I have to be down to 350 lbs? You guys are running 70 hp respectively on motor and a 30 shot (usually nets about 24 rwhp) so you are running between 90 on the low end and 100 on the high end.
My bike will be fully dunable in OEM chassis at around 400 lbs w/ front brakes and everything. Are you guys cutting weight down to 350?

Yes and Yes.... I run nitromethane/alky and nos together. I will have a duall stage nos system that has a seperate fuel cell.
your gearing from sea level with humidity should put you perfect for Sand Mt Utah, Especially since the lectron isnt that elevation sensitive.

Let me be the first to actually contubute to your thread. Lets take this "outside" "go ahead, Make my day"!!ROLFLOL!!!

Thats funny But you have to admit he is gone, right?
