07 outy 650 front break noise

07 outy 650 front break noise
I just purchased the 650 for my wife. When you use the lever to stop the front breaks make a horrible sound but if you use the peddle there is no sound at all. Is this normal? I am new to the Outlanders so any advice would be helpful.
