packing in the mufler?

Default packing in the mufler?

does taking the packing out of the mufler help performance at all my cousins did to there 450r's.They sound like sh*t.And also will taking the airbox lid off show any performance.Too many questions to ask about by ds650x

Don't take out the packing, it won't help... may even hurt. Taking the lid off will lose some of your top end... do a search for a thread called "Stock Carb Mods" by OMR read the whole thing, (its long, but read it all)... your probably on summer break so this is your homework for tonight.LOL It is a whole thread on getting the most power out of your stock carb for cheap! You should be happy.

do not remove packing, it will hurt performance! loose packing slows flow, and you will never get it as tight as it was if you take it and try to put it back in.

removing baffles attached to the endcap will increase flow and performance, if jetting is changed accordingly. but spark arrestor feature is lost so consider that if you hit places that require them.

OMR's stock carb mods thread is good, do like fatholly says and read it up, the most thorough testing done on the stock carb I think.
