i rode at the local trails and it seems my new ds650 really sucks in the water in the airbox even from barely ridin in 3 inches of water
is this normal?first time i rode in the creek beds. This sucks,i love the water trails but i really dont want to drain my airbox every 5 MINUTES.I cut a slit in my airbox plug to make it easier to drain,my airbox lid is tight. My 400ex never sucked the least bit of water.

No. It can't suck in as much as it will let out. It sounds like you are getting some accumulation. I also doubt you will get water in the drain hole without it coming right back out.
I agree, get rid of the plug

Sounds like your 2 intake tubes by your fuel tank is the real problem. Your front tires are streaming water to the tubes ....are your knees wet too? Maybe you need to work on some kind of extension, redirect, or removal and plug those and make something else.

bajax hit the nail on the head, here's what I did, I removed the two intake tubes, installed 90 degree PVC elbows from hardware store in their place, aimed downward and angled in towards the rear upper shock mount. the elbows mount right in the rubber grommets the tubes came out of, using same clamp.
I raced GNCC Ironman like this, hitting creeks with 12"+ water wide open 2nd and 3rd gear, huge wall of water splash 12 feet high and over my head, but none gets in. left drain cap off as suggested also, so if any did get in it would run right out, little bit from time to time, but nothing of any consequence.
later when aftermarket carb was installed and I removed airbox lid, I can still hit creeks hard and no water gets in, the seat wraps so well no splashes get there.
of course, you want an Outerwears on your filter.
remember, the DS was not specifically made for gncc style stuff, the 400ex was. so we must do things to make her adapt a bit.
