Sidewinder 520 Sprockets
I was looking into the 520 setup and I am between the Woods 520 steel front/alum rear for about $90, and the Sidewinder... $185 for the Ti-moly front and rear. So my question is are the gains and longevity worth the extra cost... its double the price, and Sidewinder said they should last for 3 to 4 seasons in the sand if maintained properly. Will I see that out of the Woods setup? What about performance will It even matter or will the Ti be noticablly better. Has anyone run both setups? Thanks.

I was running the ron wood front with a sprocket specialist aluminum rears, Two rides and the aluminum is done. I have a sidewinder ti-moly rear now so we will see. even if it holds up for one season it beats replacing the rear aluminum constantly at 65 bucks a pop. Yes I think the gain is worth it . In hindsight I wish I would have made it one of my first mods. you should see about a 2 length gain. If all you ride is sand get the non-oring chain.

Here ya go 5X.
Thanks for all the input guys. Can anyone break down the arguement for o-ring vs. non o-ring chains... I've heard people go both ways on the deal. Here are my assumptions:
O-ring=heavier, less maintenance, longer life
Non O-ring=lighter, more maintenance, less life
Am I close here? What is everyones experience with them? What will be best in the sand?
Thanks!

the only trouble with going from 530 to 520 is sprocket life will suffer big time, being the thickness is 50% less in spite of equal pitch. my 530 aluminum rear from sprocket specialists has about 300 hours of actual run time on it and still has life to go, but 520 alum doesn't last for crap.
non-o-ring chain is strictly for drag racing gains, if you ride and ride lots you will ultimately waste your money with it, everybody I know who went to non-o-ring chain ate it up in no time. its not just dirt its moisture, moisture from rain or washing gets between the roller and the pins, and also between plates, and then she goes south, and if you lube enough to suspend the moisture then you are slinging lube all over the back of your motor and under your fender. sacrifice the teeny gain for longevity unless there's a pink slip riding on the race, JMO.

As long as the chains tensile strength is the same as stock , would not see a problem! I just bought a RK Gold XW-ring chain, 90 big ones from rockymntn. its rated at 8500 tensile strength! RK claims 10% longer wear than anyone else, we will see for their price. It sure is a good looking chain!gold haha
