..I changed mine to amsoil 75-wt140wt. Page 82 or 92 of your owner’s manual. I believe it takes 14 oz. ..the drain plug come's out of the case "horizontal "located by your right foot "heal" area... 13mm maybe..Unlike the motor oil drain plug that comes out vertically. To refill it..Look for the white colored plastic plug..Just in front where the drive shaft bolts to the transfer case..may want to use a turkey baster to avoid spilling..Dont forget to drive it around the block or so first to warm up the fluid, so any partials can drain out..Oh yea..You won’t believe the 'DIFFERENCE" it will make for shifting..No more "Otty Humping” unbelievable..!!!
I need to state that again !!!Oh yea..You won’t believe the 'DIFFERENCE" it will make for shifting..No more "Otty Humping” unbelievable..!!!

I use Amsoil in my front and rear diffs also. (80-90) and in my crankcase, and my oil filter. Amsoil is the way to go

thistle - I wouldn't use differential or gear case oil, which is about 75W-90 synthetic, in the tranny.

The tranny takes 'chaincase' oil, 70W-140 synthetic. The dam book doesn't give the viscosity to use in the tranny, but it does say chaincase oil. I got a couple of quarts at Advance Auto today, Mobil 1, $15 per qt.

Also the manual says refill with about 400 ml, about 14 oz, which is nowhere near the same thing, ml to oz. The 14 oz would be more like 800 ml, just so you know. The way I remember is 'a liter is a quart and a liter bit more'. After the first change, I figure about a 1,000 miles between lubes and changing out all 3 boxes. I'm thinkin' I waited way too long to change tranny oil, 101 hrs and 1500 miles. Kind of worried about what I might see in the morning when I drain it.

Hightrails, hope the ricochet middle plate isn't in the way.

Sorry mate, but you should re-check your tables, if you know that a quart is "a liter and a liter bit more" then you should know that a quart has 32 oz, so a liter has 33.8 oz. Anyway, 400ml is 13.52561 oz exactly, while 14oz is 414.0294 ml exactly, so their math 14oz/400ml is fairly good.
In doubt? Do a Google search for 'CONVERT.EXE' and never miss a conversion again
