Default oil drain

was wonderin if i could get a few suggestions on my recent problem - I stripped the inside of the engine where the oil drain plug goes in, it would hold good enough but i went to the race track and the plug stripped its way out, now i was talkin to my truck mech and he said some companies make drain plugs 1/2 size bigger for when they get stripped so the new bigger plugs thread a new fitting, does anyone know if Bomb (can-am) has gone that far? My only other option i think is to re-thread and put in a bigger plug, what u guys think?

Do a search... I've seen threads on this issue before... I think the way they solved it was to get a helicoil kit for the same size spark plug as the drain plug. I saw some stuff on a BMW kit made for the oil drain plug as well. Maybe call the BMW dealer.

Yep, I used that when the dealership stripped mine, worked like a charm but was expensive.

The difference is the length of the new universal bolt you may be using... this kit is made specifically to fix this problem... if you read the article I posted you will see the screen right above the oil drain bolt. You ABSOLUTLY CANNOT damage this screen... the BMW kit will help to keep you from doing this. Re-read the article about the BMW kit there are also some pointers for helicoils and self tapping bolts... basically the artice covers all the angles.

I just had to retapp and helicoil me rear brake mount bolts What a pain in the butt.
I just learned a valuable lesson.Just tighten with locktight, not as tight as you can.

I just ordered mine from a local bmw motorcycle dealership, was here in 2 days. Just give them the part number though, they will have NO IDEA what you are talking about.
