Default cdi & rectifier problem

my bike stall and turns off but the carb is jetted properly and i have a hmf pip 175 jet in the 5 fifth position but still runs like crap it will will run good for a little bit then die and you wait a little bit and it will start up again but if you get it close to water it will die out in the water i checked the filter bone dry so im thinking cdi or rectifier ohh and my bulb burnt out so it has to be something electrical right.

so if anybody is tripping over a spair stock cdi and rectifier from a 2002-and up ds for a good price let me know please if your in cali i will pic it up my self thanks again for all the help.

Are you sure that your tank vent hose isn't pinched??? Did you try a new bulb and have it burn out also???

I could be completely wrong but did you check your battery is it all tight. I have washed mine and got alittle water and it wouldn't fire.

We do have a stock cdi but it is for a 2000 if you want it you can have it. Just let me know. When my husbands cdi and rectifier went south it didn't do what you are describing but maybe it does different things. I don't know for sure.

Sorry I probably didn't help at all. Just trying though.

It was actually a aftermarket cdi that was giving him the problems but It killed 3 batteries and the rectifier. He couldn't even start it with out jumping it and then it would die and you couldn't restart it at all unless you jumped it again, and that would only last for a very short time before you would have to do it again. Got a new battery, new rectifier, put stock cdi back on and no problems, got a vortex now with no problems.

I am sure it did more but that is what I remember it has been almost a year. But it really sucked. Oh and it did kill the high beem on the light but not the whole light.

PM returned.
