campfires banned??

I read on planet sand that camp fires are banned at utah for the labor day weekend? could this be true? has anyone else heard this and has it ever happened before in utah? ? whats to catch fire? I hope the guy who posted this didnt know what he was talking about. we shall see

Im not surprised, campfires were banned a few weeks ago as well. There's a lot of sage brush, and scrub brush everywhere - its not all sand, not by a long shot.

I read over at PS, a gentlemen talked with the rangers. 50 feet from vegy, and a pit, and we are good to go!
