Default Deposit on an 800 today!!

I put a deposit on a standard Outlander 800 today!

I have to drive to Los Angeles(about 6 hrs) to pick it up next week though. The dealers in No. Calif would not work with me on price, and the single up NON XT models seem to be hard to find. I had originally worked out a deal on a 650 for $7899 OTD, checked it out on my lunch break, initialed the price offered and told them I would be back after work to complete the purchase. They called me about an hour later and said that price was wrong and it would be $8500 OTD....I said "SORRY"...what a bunch of BS, that was NOT cool. I wanted to get a deal locked in before 8/31 to get the warranty for free.

So on Wed. I start calling every dealer in CA that was open after 5 PM, finally got an offer for an 800 for $8399 OTD........6 hr drive each way but for less then what they wanted up here for a 650 BFD. Couldn't get down there by yesterday to complete the deal so I can't get the free warranty but I thought that was a pretty fair price all things considered. Another dealer here wanted $9,000 OTD for a 650 BASE model, I was like WTF? That was an 06 that dealers are getting $800 back from the factory on....really irritated me. It sucks that I have to drive to LA but I have plenty of vacation days in the bank so I can take next Friday off, drive down Thursday night, get the deal done first thing in the AM and be back home before dinner Friday then we can go riding on Saturday. I figure gas will cost about $175-200 IF I stay at a hotel thats another $50 bucks. So for about $150 more then I could get a 650 up here for I can get the 800 instead with a small inconvenience. I shouldn't have drug my feet so long, had no idea it would be that hard to find a base model 650 or 800, dealers said they sell 70%+ in the MAX and XT models, not much demand for the base Outlanders I guess. They also offered me an XT for only $9,000.......tempting but I don't want the extra weight of the winch on the front and I plan on removing both racks as well.

Wish they were open on Sunday but since it's a holiday weekend they're closed (

Gotta wait a whole week.....damn, could have done this two weeks ago and gotten the warranty and I'd be riding it.
