Took the family out to the dunes this over the long weekend, and had a blast! Ran into a problem with the bike that I was hoping to get help diagnosing. Day one, no problems for the first half of the day, after lunch break, started riding again, my boy go stuck in the sand so I pulled along side of him and the bike lets a pop and dies. Got the kid unstuck and my bike fired right back up, this happened a couple of more times when at low idle the bike would pop and die.

Second day, fired right up, but still would pop and die if I stopped and let the bike idle after it was warmed up. After riding for 3 hours, the bike died and would not restart, just clicked then nothing. I assume the battery caused that, so I will get one this week, but the poping has me baffled. I live in Portland which is about 850ft above sea level, and we were riding along the beach. Would jetting cause this? I didnt think that this little of a change would cause so much headache

Also, does anyone make an aftermarket pull start for the DS650? Seems like it would have been a nice feature instead of getting pull started

 

It sound's like it may be as simple as a bad battery, but most would recomend getting a voltage tester and test the battery voltage while the engine is running it should be around 13.5-14.0 volts , If it is lower or higher you may have another problem such as a bad rectifier, a bad ground wire, or coroded wiring somewhere, as far as the pullstart goes you could not pay me to yank on a rope hooked to my high compression engine. I dont think anyone makes a pull start for the 650. maybe this will help., Matt.
