What they were never packed with grease from the factory or whoever assembled them? That stinks.

Well that stinks if that is what happened and hopefully didn't ruin the carrier and it can also ruin the sprockets which stinks for such an easy thing to do.

I got a recall on my 05 in 2006 and the dealer found no grease in the axle and had to get me a new axle and hub. Somthing about the axle would not come out of the hub. So they tried heat and it still would not come out. I use red line grease red #2 for Big Rigs axle bearings. It has a higher temp. break down rating.

Mine is a 2003, and I had never been informed about a recall on this. In fact the first time I heard anything about it was just the other day in here when I signed up.
My bearings just came apart the other day after 3-1/2 years of agressive riding... not bad.
I had no luck finding the bearings from a cheaper source... had to pay $24 each for the bearings, and $14 each for the seals from the dealer.

hey i just bought a 2001 ds650 today and the transmission died. the rear wheels locked up and wont move at all. the previous owner didnt put transmission fluid in it and i rode it for an hour and the wheels locked up. we think the transmissions seized, is there a way to fix it? the clutch works fine, i can switch to first and second and the bike starts right up, it just wont move. would i have to go out and buy a whole new transmission or is there a way i can tear it apart and fix it or what??? thanks
