Default ds650 vs 700rapter

I have had both a DS and a 700r.
I prefer my 700r in the tight trails and at altitude the Fuel injection rules.
IMO at the dunes they are about even and in the open desert I prefered my DS.
I am 6"5 250 and the Rappy is about as small of machine as I feel comfortable on.

I agree. I've ridden both. Never cared much for the 660, but rode a 700 recently and have to say Yami really did their work on addressing all of the shortcomings of the 660. If I was looking to add another horse to the stable the 700 would be at the top of my list at the moment.

FYI, I was talking about the 700R. Were you referring to this years model as I did not notice a difference......

the ds was made for desert racing, long travel suspension with 100 lbs more weight than the 700r.manuvering around and racing in a straight line drag the edge would go to the 700r.also the reverse can come in handy. all depends on what you will be doing as to which machine you would choose.

Raptor all the way! I owned one, now I have a Outlander. I have riden a DS and would never buy one after riding it. Big, bulky and slow.

Get the Raptor, better for what you want.

I weight at 155 and I have no problems throwing my DS650 around. All I ride is tight trails and a lot of mud holes . The DS has so much power all you have to do is give it gas and the problem solves it self. I love the machine I ride as hard as i can on tight trails and leave my buddies behind all the time. They all say i'm crazy or some thing like that.. After a while you get the feel for the machine. It all depends what you have money for...Plus the DS can take more of a beating...

My 2 cents

OK OK you guys have shown that there are light ppl who can handle the ds well...guess i was wrong. As for the ds being slow LOL...guess thats why i walk over lots of raptors then huh? No i havent raced the new 700r but i have raced lots of modded 660s with my ds and i take them in a flat drag.

I am also one of those 6'2 175lb wonders that has no problem tossing around my big, fat, slow? DS. Just the other day I was keepin up with a YZ 426F Dirt bike on an old motocross track, granted we weren't racing, but still I was right with him.
