Poor Coil Grounding

If you want to be sure you're getting full power out of your DS, check both coils for strong spark. If you don't feel the spark is strong, check the coils for a good ground connection to the chassis. I noticed that my coils were not making a good connection to ground due to thick paint.

the same thing happened to me when i bought mine,but mine wouldnt start because of a bad battery ground.we tightened it and all was fine.by the way,where is the coil ground? i should probably check mine.

You have to remove the gas tank to access the two coils. The coils are right above the radiator. It's a little tight accessing them and requires some patience unbolting them and getting a file in there to remove the paint. If you just check your spark, that may tell you whether you need to go through all this or not. I had to replace a clutch cable so I figured I do mine while I had everything apart.
