battery dropping cell
First of all ALBA SUCKS!!!!!. Second of all, after replacing my battery at the start of the season, I went riding for about 15 miles stopping about 3 times, then all of a sudden the bike died. Had to be towed by a banshee... The battery showed it had dropped a cell. So put in second battery, went riding, same thing happened. Took it straight to Alba, they tell me its the rectifier. 7 weeks go by no fix so I took the bike home, run the bike with a different battery and the battery shows holding 14.6v. I charged up the old one did a load test dropped down to 11.0v. I have read all the threads I can on rectifiers and batterys. Do you think it could be 2 batterys in a row?. Or the rectifier? I just want to ride. Any help would be great. As most of you probably know more than Alba. Thanks Kiwi

I smoked two batteries at DS Days, one being an Odysssey PC545. Drove two hours round trip to buy another and fried it within five minutes. Concensus thought it was the regulator/rectifier. After chasing sparks for the better part of an hour we found out it was the CDI.
Thanks to Crash and Dragon I was able to still enjoy my weekend. Appreciate it guys.
Rule of thumb, pick up a reg/rec and a CDI on ebay and toss them in your tool box. Cheap insurance and you will still be able to finish the trip you're on.
Good Luck
