I saw a tv test where they tested the 499cc, the trans was mounted on the back axle.

Outlaw 525 specs

I do like the fact of good clearance and reverse, plus dry weight is 100lbs lighter than a stock DSX. May be something to check out when its time to get a newer quad if Can-am refuses to come out with a updated sport quad similar to the DS in the next couple years. And it seems if they follow their current trend I probably will like to have what they come out with, but I don't know if I will want to pay 1-2 grand more for it than the competitors models.

HP will be 50+ I think (dirt bike is somewhere around 62) and weight is down considerably from the 500 to 397 I do belive. Same weight as the 700 raptor.

That should be comparable to the r, it has 48 i believe,i think thats how the banshee was born they took the motor from the motorcycle and stuck it in a quad. made for a very successful marriage.now brp is talking the same thing with the 450 thats suppose to be on the way, however i still havnt seen the release of the renegade which was suppose to be this months debut.

Looking at the classified sites (atvtraderonline, for example), there are listings for the Renegade 800, so it is apparently out there. Looking at the specs, it is still a pretty heavy machine, so I'd guess most of it's weight loss was in tires/wheels/racks. Me gots to go look at one, and an OUtlaw 525...

I would say the hp will be in the mid 40's. Thats very good for a stock machine. My raptor stock was 39hp, and my yfz stock was 36hp, on the same dyno with dyno tires. I have a 525 on order I cant wait

You must mean at the wheels? The pred is rated 48-49 crank horse, and the 525 is more powerful than that.

FASTFATBOY, I didn't know the Outlaw 525 was even out yet? I have a buddy interested in one, but I didn't think they were coming out until spring of 07?? Correct me if I'm wrong and I'll check with our local dealer!
I was checking one out at the local dealer the other day when I went to look over a GSX-R750 so I guess there out.

Seems I was mistaken as that one was actually the 500, sorry all for the goof up.

What is supposed to have been done to create the weight changes?
