I have a 06 & a 07 Outy 800xt, they are awsome.

And just for more fun I changed all the 800 stickers to 650 stickers before anyone could see them. It realy burns the big boys buts when you beat them with a 650.

i ride my max single up all the time. advantage is when climbing hills it is more stable than the standard,offset is it doesnt turn as sharp. my max will outclimb my buddies standard. could be tire setup.

 

i have two outlnaders the 650 xt and 800max as a one seater its the same as when u got two one it it drives just like the one seater but there about 1000 more and make sure if you get one you put skid on it becase the fram well deant bad if you dont

 

Hello, new to the forums but joined because I just bought a 800 Max XT...thought I would give my 2 cents about the questions:

#1. Brake? Not that big of a transition...it throws me off more if I ride my LTR before I ride the Outlander...but a real short learning curve...shouldn't be that big of a deal for you either I imagine.

#2. Max or not? My take is here in California they WILL bust you if you ride double on a quad only made for single passenger use. So in my opinion it would be better to have it and not need it than to not have it and get a fine or ticket...and that rear seat will be way more comfortable for the little fella than just hanging on to dad...and you can get those rear seat filler things on e-bay all day long for cheap...

Either way?...Great machines. I was shocked at just how good a quad these Can-Am's are...

I was originally leaning (OK, dreaming) of the 650 XT. Now I think I will give the Max version serious consideration. Like I said before, hardly ever ride double but it looks like the trend will be for my boys to continue to grow and commandeer whatever quad I buy for my wife to ride. Since she doesn't ride too often, having a 2-up could be the best solution.

Gotta buy a new truck this year, and probaly another car....now I just have to find an extra 10 grand for a quad.

Absolutely get the MAX (for the ride and the space for tw0), and the XT (for the tires and bumper guards), but I only have a 400 MAX XT and it has gobs of power for me. If you are a speed freak they made the 500 the 650, and the 800 for you, but in my view it is a total waste of money. The 400 H.O. engine is an amazing beast that does everything I want.

The only possible caveat I can see is that the new track kits (Can-Am makes one called "The Appache") reputedly suck a lot of power, but they told me that they developed and tested their Appache track kit on a 400, so.... Has anyone had enough experience with these track kits on the 400 vs. the 500 or 650 or 800 motors?

i have an 650 xt and an 800max xt they are great my bombardier trater max has two break lavers the one is fine it works the same as one that has two as for th max or not go with the max the 650 is more then powerfull i have them both the 650 has 55.4h.p and the 800has 62h.p. for the money more you spend on the 800 go with the 650 xt max just take these in mind the body skeraige easy

 

You're taking some hard hits this year. If you can wait til late next summer, you can probably get $1000 off cash deal. The dealers get an extra $500 from CanAm plus their own $500 to move old stock and make room for the new.

I personally would not be hesitant to buy used (not from a dealer, taxes, extras) if you knew the quad, '06 or '07, will still have a year or two warranty on it. If a used quad doesn't have skid plates on it and no damage, it hasn't really been ridden or it's been covered over, regarding main spar damage up front.

Weak frame rumor is just that, a rumor. Bent frames come from hitting something hard with a front tire.

 

650 versus 800?...
