Default Insurance??

I am getting ready to buy anATV this weekend and I was wondering if you have to insure the ATV like a car. Is this the wise thing to do?

Default Insurance??

Never heard of it being required. I have it on mine, just in case they are stolen or totaled. Haven't had to use it yet. Now, I have wrecked and just payed to fix it myself. Didn't want the premiums to go up, and it cost just a little more than the deductable was anyway.

You may want to review your homeowners policy as well. Some will cover it if it is stolen from the house, some won't.

Well, if you finance your ATV it might very well be required.

If you total your ATV or if it burns up or gets stolen you're not out nearly 10 grand. Also don't forget liability. If you run into someone on the trail and cripple or kill them or simply wreck their ATV you might want a big chunk of liability coverage.

In our litigious world that is slopping over with lawyers and people looking sue and a jackpot based legal system if you have any sort of assets to protect you would be well advised to take steps to protect them.

Homeowners will not pay if your quad is stolen from your house, or from anywhere else. You're living dangerously regarding liability and theft if you don't have insurance.

I pay about $220/year for full coverage from Progressive.
