Head bolt torque DS 650
The socket size is 15mm and 10mm. The service manual says exactly what Scooby told you. For about $50 you can replace the OEM studs with hardened ones and buy brand new nuts. (talking about the 4 main hold downs)
44 ft lbs is huge! Most of the race shops I know don't torque that far because it isn't necessary........even on high compression. If the threads on the nuts have any stress, they will pop at about 40 lbs. I start with replacing the studs, once you do that you should never have to do that again. That is a one time purchase for insurance. I always keep some brand new nuts around and I never put the old ones back on. I torque the small bolts to 20 ft lbs and the main stays to 39 ft lbs. The allen bolts on the timing chain side I just tighten past snug a bit by feel.
This is all done with a Cometic multi-layer steel gasket. I follow the torque sequence religiously and this has always worked well for me.
Good luck!
