Default 22" tires, mud/all around

I know these tire topics have been beat to death, and I have searched my self confused so what harm could another topic be.

I want to go to a 22" tire for the added ground clearance. I have the stock tires on it now, I have got stuck in some ruts before, besides, these stock tires are worthless anyway.

I want a tire that hooks good in alot of conditions, not a pure mud slinger as like sliding around corners and such. But I want to be able to go threw some mud. I get stuck now just looking at a mudhole.

Has anybody ran the ITP mudlite? I know they make a mudlite sp which they say is made for a sport quad, but they are only in a 20" size. What about the maxxis raxr2, or something like that?

For you local fellows (Indiana) I will be riding Haspin and the Badlands alot. What kind of tire do you recomend?

Also, do you know if 14-42 gearing will fit a stock chain?

I run the Mud Machine A/T 22" rear tires and they hook up in everything! I ran the Razr II's before and wasnt that impressed with them, they slipped alot in the wet stuff like wet fields. Id stay away from the Realtors, but if u want a good knobby tire i like the Holeshot XCT cause they r a 22" tire and had excellent control and corner bite. I'll be trying the Dirt Devil 22" as my next tire.

Holeshot HD is a good tire... very tough/aggressive tire. It also is suppose to keep you out of the rutz. If your in the mud more go with the mudlite.

Im thinking on ordering a set of Kenda Knarly's 22's, has anyone tried them? They seem to look pretty decent!

i am running razrII's 22" and i am very impressed for a knobby in the mud but my next tire will be more aggressive because i ride alot in the mud. my brother is running 23" bearklaws front and rear. very good mud/all arond tire and priced well too. my next tire will probably be a 23" and i thought about even a 24" but i want to keep the low gearing for slow trail riding in woods. i have 14/43 gearing with stock chain and it works good.

So nobody has tried the mudlites on their ds?

NickDS650: I have read alot of good things about those mud machines. Do they slide well, or just hook and try to throw you off? Do you have any pics of them on your quad?

I also have the Mud Machine 22s. They are a great tire, still slide and hook well. I also have a complete set of Razor twos 22s. The mud machines are so good the only time I put on the Razors is for straight trail riding and racing. The mud machines stay on the Quad 90 percent of the time. And they are awesome in the snow as well.

Oh and also I am running a 14T front with factory rear sprocket and factory chain, been running that since I switched to 22inch rears and quad still has about the same top end as it had with the 16T front and 22inch rears.

If i put 22's on the rear, is it recommended to run a bigger tire than 22 on the front, like a 23?

It dont really matter. But a bigger tire on the front will give you more clearance in the front for the mud
