Don't you get better control with a bigger tire in the front,

The new ITP Terracross tire is awesome. 25x8x12 front and 25x10x12 rear. If you go to a 26" on these new babies you'll need 14" rims. I run them on a 500 Cat and a friend runs them on his 800 Renegade as well as his Outty.

I will prolly step up to a 23" tire on the front when I put the 22" tire on the back. I have narrowed it down to the mudmachines, or the mudlites. Either one should be flinging some mud!!

My cousin put the 23" Bandits on the front of his, to tall of a tire for woods/road, wobbled his front a lil at high speeds, its stick with 21" - 22" in fronts. If youd like to see a few shots of my quad u can see them on my myspace page - www.myspace.com/woehrle, my south dakota pics have the mud machines on, threw that clay-mud around like crazy! Yes they can slide, the treads r angled across the tire so when u spin them out if u keep on the gas it'll turn ur right around, fun in the mud and snow, but if u do it right u'll have traction the whole time, its a nice feature.

yall check out the outlaw mst at highlifter.com. it comes in a 22.5 for the rear. that would be a super tire for all around/mud tire.

I thought that the fronts were 22-10x7

They will fit on a stock rim, the problem is with a 12" wide tire you will end up with a round tread from to wide of a tire. You will have better luck with an 11" wide tire.
Remember:
Flatter/Squarer tread design = more tire on the ground = better traction.

I myself have just ordered a set of the new ITP Trac Star radials in 22x11.00-9. I should have them by next week, but probably won't ride on them until the spring.

kenda knarlies 22`s are big heavy but they did have ok traction on my 400 ex but i figure that the ds would just roast those knarlies to peices, i run 22 inch bearclaws on the back of my ds and i like the drift effect too, they do drift alright after you wear them down a tad but excellent traction in all conditions but a tad heavy i would say but a great all around tire, however i would have rather stuck with the 20`s it seems you have alot more power but if you want 22`s then go for it, i bought 23 inch itp holeshots for the front and havent had a chance to give them a try since it snowed heavly
