YOu will need to loosen the 4 carrier bolts in the rear. Put a small screw driver through the hub into a little slot in the carrier. Roll it forward or backward and it will either tighten the chain, or loosen it. At that point you can slide the chain off of the sprockets and change. Reverse order to put back on. Nope, no master link in stock chain....

No, when you loosen up the rear bolts like what was mentioned before you should turn the carrier in the rear and the chain will loosen or tighten whichever way you turn it...Loosen the chain and then I am guessing you are changing a front sprocket you will need to loosen the large nut on it and take the case saver and stuff off...I usually put the parking break on to loosen the large nut on the front sprocket...Now if you are changing out your sprocket because the front one is warn, then I would recommend changing the rear also and the chain, but if you are doing it for gearing then inspect everything and if all if good then put the procket on...Once you have the new sprocket on tighten the nut back up and make sure everything is in line and tighten the rear carrier leaving slack in your chain...once everything is tight, clean and lube your chain and you are done. any ?'s let me know.

what they ment by the grinder is you will need to grind off one of the pins on the chain to get it loose, but you won't need to take the chain all the way off for changing out a sprocket.

Yes the threds are normal. You only need to grind the pins if you are going to put in a masterlink. Other than that you can do it by loosening the chain.
