Default K&N air Filter / Need to rejet?

Woops

I wanted to install a K&N air filter and a buddy of mine told me I would have to rejet the carb if I did so. Is this true and what jetting would be recommended? Thanks.

If you are running stock right now (165) it wouldn't hurt to go up to a 175 or so. May require minor tweeking to get it perfect. Might as well do OMR's stock carb mods while your in there...

Thanks for your help.
What are OMR's carb mods? I couldn't find anything under the search.

If you run that K&N you need to do more than rejet. Like new piston and rings from the dirt and sand that it will let in.

Are you running an outerwear? I do on both my filter pods & nothing gets in there.

I think he was asking for serious advice here, I could be wrong. Let's not lead him astray, he's a newbie and I felt like it was a serious inquiry. If the K&N is properly oiled it functions flawlessly. If it is ran with an Outerwears it works even moreso.

Just run an outerwear... 4 years on mine and not one issue. Just keep it clean and oiled. The more oil the better.

I run a K&N on my ds with an outerwears and it has been fin sofar, but I refuse to on my new 450r so I don't wind up with engine failure and have decided to go with a foam for my 450r...The K&N's allow alot of dirt to get into the intake and collects on the valves and inside of the engine and causes engine failure and it is common with the 450r's which is why camo had mentioned it.
