Problem with charging battery HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
#1
I have a 2003 DS650 Baja. My problem is my charge. I get 12.44 volts when the quad is off. It never charges past 12.5 when the quad is running and sometimes when its running it drops a little and sometimes it rises a little but most of the time it stays the same. When the quad is off it will have a small draw but nothing to make the battery go dead. My main problem is when I start the quad, when I am riding and turn the quad off I will have about 3 times to start it or else I will not have enough juice to start it. From off its 12.4 volts but when I try to start it it goes down to 11.8 volts. I will try anything to find out why its not working right. thanks

hey man,
do a search on my name and look at the one post that say "something weird" there are some suggestions in there. Sounds like regulator/rectifier, or ground, or stator, or solonoid, or something in the charging system problem...just like I am having. Trial and error....could be anything from the reg./rect. to the trigger coil. most likely a loose wire or bad reg/rect.! But hard to tell. you need to test everything with a multimeter basically...
do you have a copy of the owners manual? there is good info. in the electrical section in it! I just found that out today! thanks to eaglecollector!
sorry i couldn't be more help!
