I recently purchased a 2001 DS650 the fellow I bought it froum lived in Ohio. Which I understand is between 600 to 700 feet in altitude. I live in grand junction colorado which is 4400 feet. I ride between 4400 and 7000 ft. I would like to know what your thoughts are on the main jet, piolet jet and the e clip setting. I will tell you a little about the bike. It has a 14 to 1 HPR piston. web 109 cams, ported head, tm45 carburator, big gun cdi ported intake ron wood exhaust and I am hoping you can guide me in setting up this carburator. Thanks Rob

Either wait on Hightower to respond, or send him a PM. He will be quick to answer and glad to help. May take him a little longer once he gets back on here and has to deal with the changes. Try the PM route. He's the Master.

its not bad Happy, the TM's are no harder to jet than other other flat slide carb, a lot of jetting sensetivety issues are related to running the wrong needle and/or needle height, not to mention the all too often butchering of the accel pump that causes a domino of issues.
the only thing ever needing changed for altitude and climate conditions is the main jet, and its a 20 second job thanks to the plug in the bottom of the bowl, rather than having to remove carb or bowl like alot of bikes need to. but that's just to maintain peek performace - I can go from sea level to 10K and still run okay, but I choose to retune on trips just so i am getting all I can of course.

Hi Chris, thanks for the respond, lot of great info, my excellarator pump is hooded up and I am running a KN Filter, with no air box. I was running 110 octane, but iwas told at this altitute i should run 50/ 50. Currently I am running 147 1/2 main jet, when i got the bike i checked the spark plugs and they were pure white, since changing to 50/50 I am getting a very light brown on my plugs, also when I got the bike the main jet was a 160. I haven't checked the piliot jet yet, my e clip is set on the 3 notch down i am assuming by your email, that i should be on the 2 nd notch.
Thanks, Rob
Thanks, Rob
