Default ds650 vs 450r

my buddy and i race all the time at the dunes. these two quads are so close. the 450r gets me off the line then i will pass him at the 3/4 mark . we are both winning about 50-50. i would love to just win the whole way through.
what can i do for performance that wont cost an arm and a leg? here is what i have done so far.......................

I think you have to at least consider stage one type options. Certainly the carb is a huge factor and that would be next on my list if I had your mods. Then a full exhaust. If you already have a tip, then the full would be the way to go. Slip on simply wont do the trick. RWR and CT have excellent exhaust systems - Its going to depend on your noise preferences. A CDI wont give a ton of power, but it might make the difference in certain circumstances. Also, you migh consider regearing.

Well since I have both I can say that the 450r takes it out of the hole due to how fast it accelerates...I would try messing around with your gearing and lose some rotating mass in the rear by switching to a 520 chain conversion and cut your hubs...The ds has a lot more torque and should be able to pull pretty good depending on your tires...You can also try starting in 2nd to get the holeshot.

Your 20" sandstars are killing your starts. Get some 22" 8-paddle haulers and a 15-tooth front sprocket and you shouldn't be playing catch up any more...

Get some Haulers. . . they are much better than your Sandstars.
