WHATS WITH THE SKOCKS BREAKING ON THE 800'S
SO HERE I AM RIDING DOWN AN OLD LOGGING ROAD WITH A CO-WORKER AND BOOM MY FRONT END DROPS. I AM 38 YEARS OLD AND IT SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME.LUCKILY I WAS ONLY GOIN ABOUT 20 MPH. SO I PHONE A DEALER THE NEXT DAY , TELL THEM MY QUAD IS 6 MONTHS OLD AND I GET AN EAR FULL ABOUT HOW I DRIVE MY QUAD. THESE PEOPLE DON,T KNOW ME .YOU,D THINK I WAS SOME KINDA BACKYARD RACER/QUAD BASHER SMASHER TYPE GUY.ANY WAY THEY TELL ME THAT I MIGHT NOT GET WARRANTY. I GOT CHOKED. THE SAID THEY HAVE TO SEE IF MY ATV WAS ABUSED , THEN I LAUGHED. THE DARNED SHOCK LET GO RIGHT ON THE STEM JUST UNDER THE SHOCK MOUNT. ANY BODY ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM ? AND WHAT DID YOU GET DONE ABOUT IT,WARRANTY OR PAY YOUR SELF?

I have heard of one other case. It is not a common problem with Outys. Crappy front suspension in general, low GC, bottoming out, is very common with Outys.
Sounds like you might want to call another dealer. There is an 'upgrade' spring/shock set put out by canam. The 'upgrade' very definitely should have been a recall on all 650/800 Outys.

If they say no warranty, maybe you don't want to spend your money with canam. Maybe just take your bike back and get some works, crutchfields, stadiums or elkas. Any of these will give you ten times better ride and better GC than the very poor Outy stock front suspension.
I finally bit the bullet and bought Crutchfields, went from 8" front ground clearance to 12", 10" to 11" in the rear. Thirty day money back guarantee. Bilstein gas shocks and Ed Crutchfield makes the springs.
Yes, all the front GC I had was 8". Canam advertises 12" on their 06 and 07 Outy 650/800. They told the 12" lie in 05 and 06, then repeated it in 07. The most I've heard a stock outy have is 11", but that was when it was new, before the front springs had a chance to sag together so the coils are touching each other.

it's most likely the dealer and not can-am every time we have called to get pre-certified that the warranty will cover something if we explain what happened they always cover it for us</end quote></div>
Yeah, I've heard good things as far as CS goes with Can-Am. It is probably the dealer.
Anyways, I should try measuring our 800..Curious as to what our GC is. Most 800s sag in the front (and sometimes even in the rear) after they break in a little bit, causing a lack of GC and overall shock(s). Although they usually will replace it for you under warranty.

I have heard of only one dealer replacing suspension (in front only). And even if he does, you have new suspension that you know is going to fail. You have a heck of a dealer, and not a typical one by far, if he replaces oem front suspension with the upgrade suspension. BTW, the spring in the 'upgrade' is the same as an '06 max (non XT) Outy. In a couple of cases of the upgrade suspension, the quad actually lost GC. That is why I bought the Crutchfields, just to be done with it.
So far I have spent $1900 because of the Outy poor suspension. Don't want to sound like a wet blanket here, but $1900 on top of $10,000 just to get good handling and good GC?

Exact same suspension, steveo10. Very little difference, maybe wheels, between the 06 and 07. That's not a bad thing, the 06 is a hell of a quad, except for the front suspension.
Have you gotten a case number yet from Canam? More info on which shocks? Oem? There probably isn't anyone at the dealer who knows jack about anything. Canam the same, maybe you can talk to the area Rep and he can put you in touch with a canam engineer?
