yea, its hard to get excited about those, they are built for a top racer and the race track and thats not how i ride, so yea they are a nice bike, but i wouldnt buy one, i dont like the idea of comin out with a machine with a very specific focused target, the whole yfz450, 450r, and ds450 thing is all about the race track, which is a small % of ppl who buy quads, u focus on an awesome trail quad and u have a big % of quad buyers, but hey if they want to own the race track, go for it lol

NickDS650,

I'm not sure what kind of trails you ride on, but I would think all the 450s would be good for all the trails that I ride on. Sand trails, dirt trails all of them that I ride. The only trail I wouldnt think they would be good at are those really rocky, rutted out trails, and thats for utes!

For me, I've been bored for a long time. Started with the dune drag thing, then the trail thing, then the cross country thing - For the last few years, its been pretty boring. I like 450s, I love how light they are, and I love how easily you can turn them and jump them.

But, they have become very boring to me. Conversion quads are the next thing for me. Now, they wont be the trail quad, but they are very duneable and can dune drag like no other! That cures the bore factor for me!

Yea here in PA we have A LOT of rocky trails, so ground clearance is a big issue, lot of mud too, my cousin has the YFZ and his skid plate is in rough shape lol

You can take all the "shootouts" and put them in one bucket and you won't have beans.

If you think the 450's are just for the race crowd, you haven't been to the dunes or desert lately. They are everywhere

Hey Sandman!

. . . . . . .

On to the subject:

I'm amazed at how many of the 450's seem to have been quickly replaced with the Raptor 700's. I think people that jumped on the 450 craze are realizing how nice their big-bores were.

Conversions:
I agree, there will be a lot more that come out in the next few years but, as Marky has said, interests will change and people with them will sell out too. Prices will come down from the $15,000 for some of the recent Bomb-Busa's to a range 1/2 that price. Supply and demand. Especially as these conversions age and wear.

I was amazed at how many conversions there were at the Hill for DS Day's. . . Not the DS's (knew about them) but the Banshee's that had them too!

The other thing that suprised me was the lack of 2-strokes. Hardly any were racing up the hill.

The 450's are great for those that are VERY aggressive riders. I like a bit more suspension and like to not have to shift so much so, the big bore is better for my duning style. I have a feeling that more will feel that way over time and the big-bore will remain the bike for the dunes.

Time will tell.

I doubt you will see the really nice conversions for under $10k. The good ones just cost way too much to build.
