ds650 vs stroked banshee
never raced a banshee... i trail ride 100%, no dunes in wisconsin....
but my HPR 730 with all the goodes is wicked fast, going to install a stroker crank this winter to make it a 800... as far as hanging with a banshee, that depends on were your riding... tight woods riding banshee... wide open trails, DS....
hill climing DS... dunes, not sure....... but id guess DS.......

What you are riding in will make a difference. If you have a 730 with great HPR porting and HPR 4 or better cams, and then you do all the rotating mass reductions you may be able to compete with the stroked banshees on the dune hill runs. Our bikes are very heavy and it takes a lot to overcome that......

Check into The Bom Racing too. He sells the Pami kits. Great strokers.
Unfortunately the DS is probably one of the most expensive bikes to build. The good news is you can build the chit out of it! It can handle a ton of power.
Or, you could pick-up a used DS that has already been built.
I know someone that is looking to sell his 830 DS with Nitrous and all the bells and whistles. You could have that whole bike for about the cost of modifying yours with those kits.
Banshee's are tricky. I've seen strokers I could beat-up on when I had my old Pami DS 760. I've also had my **** handed to me by ones with great port work.
Cool thing about the DS is you can dune it all day then if you have the mods show up at the hill and play. The Banshee will beat you up.
Watch out though. The new bikes can be modified for a lot less money. I could bore/stroke/port/cam/etc. this new Raptor for about $3k and have a serious duner/Banshee killer. Would I be able to take a built Shee - maybe, maybe not.

the weight of the ds is a big disavantage, even the weight and then compare similar engine mods, you will find the racing a lot more fun. but don't expect a stroked big bore ds to go whipping up on a race framed banshee, there fun to face at that point some you win some you lose. that is where most things fall apart some guys prepare all the time others roll out with there stock machine and wonder what happened. Like duneme i've beat lots of banshees and had my **** handed to me by plenty. heck my sons honda has had a banshee of two. guess that is what makes racin fun.
