What Paddles To Run
Welcome to the forums, if you'll exit to the main Can-Am page and look up to the top you can use the advanced search option to search paddle tire topics. You should find pages of posts on that topic.
You've opened a small can of worms as everyone is going to weigh in with their own opinion but it comes down to what kind of riding are you going to do on what kind of sand?
The DS is heavy and needs the flotation of a 22" tire, unless you're in some fairly dense sand such as granite mixed desert sand or wet beach sand. Running 22's also means you should should gear down 1 tooth in the front to keep the same gearing. Unless your bike is really built consider going up two teeth in the rear sprocket or down another in the front, it shouldn't effect your top speed. That's 15/42 or 14/40, stock is 16/40.
Do you want to slide, turn and play allot or are you into drag racing and hill shooting.
Look for size, big heavy bikes wouldn't run 400EX tires! look for flex, this means light weight carcasses and side walls, look for the paddle design and number for your conditions and riding style and lastly look at price. Don't cheap out on tires, they are what move you in sand and even a great bike can't overcome a bad tire choice.
The best race tires are the Skat Trak ultra light tripple buffs or the Sand Tire Unlimited competition cut Paddla Brats (check my pics). Either are very light and flexible. Next would be the Skat Trak Extremes, a good race paddle with tough tear resistant paddles and a good life span. These are the only paddles I'm familiar with, there are allot of choices out there and many new cheaper one piece tires that are much lighter than they used to be. The older ones were more of a cheap, stiff mudding tire.

skat trak do cost a little more than everyone else but i guess you get what you pay for. btw i whould still recomend the haulers even if you dont drag race. i have a pair of itp sand stars and a pair of haulers and the haulers are on there alot more. they only time i really use the sand stars is when i am going to race someone a long distance because they are bigger tire and when i am jumping mad far because i have them on a 12" itp rim and they will not bend like the haulers on 8" super light rim. but for duning and most genaral riding the hauler work very well. they will climb anything and take off a lot faster.

I ran Sand Stars for 2 years on my DS and loved em, I rode one with haulers and it was a totally different ride. I would suggest haulers even for regular duning cause chances are you are at least gonna be racing your buddies and they will help you climb any dune you point your bike at.
