Direct mount filter?
#1
Anyone know of a direct mount filter that fits without hitting the seat or frame?
I want to try one on my build, but it bothers me to have my filter rubbing.

What carb are you running Scott. We picked up a direct mount from RWR and I do not think it was hitting the seat. Only problem we had with it was that it is smaller then the stock replacement and felt we were losing air flow with it.

I ran a built bike the other day with a direct mount and was impressed. They always rub a tad butlike mentioned you can find ways around it. I am thinking about making a 3-4 inch snorkle tube that points downward and I will test on dyno.
I run snorkles on the lectrons but some like the direct. I will dyno both ways. I personally think some motors and pipe combos with head different porting will respond different to different combos. Good luck.

I'm running a RW TM45.. and I have a brand new K&N with outerwear that is the same part number that RW sells but it hits the bottom of the seat.
I was thinking about cutting the bottom of the seat, but was worried about its strength.
I have head many strong arguments for the tube, and I have a late model reinforced one, but with my mile build I have a real strong mid range, and after talking to TheBom I think a direct mount on the TM45 might move that hit up the RPM range a bit and in my case make it a smoother power band.
Anyway, its just one last thing to play since the motor is all done.

I ran the 45 and never had much luck with the direct mount, but then i didn't have a dyno to tune with. the tube helped get the low end bog to go away it was also very noticeable on the main jets. direct mount was a 140-145 main jet, with the tube it was 150-160.
