i do it every year with great success, i think its more fun in the snow with sand tires than in the sand, but i am pushing 60 hp on a 2000 ds 650, is this not a common thing to do in the snow? it is where i live in IL

My husband uses them every winter. He uses the dirt tires on the front to help steer but he enjoys it. But snow is like sand RPM's are your friends if you get stuck you still gotta pick it up and get it out. But I know he has a blast every winter.

Yes, she is right about it being a blast, but keep in mind that if you get off the packed down trail you will get stuck. So as long as you stay on the trail you should have a blast.

I've always wanted to ask this question but thought someone would think I was stupid for asking. Do tires for sand work better in the snow than aggressive tires for mud and snow? Surely they must be a little better in any snow than knobby tires? Maybe a sand tire with not so aggressive lugs and good flotation like the MAXX tire? Love to hear from more people who have tested out this theory.

Im not a fan of paddle tires in the snow....ive always quadded in the winters and they are canadian winters. Me and my friends ran bearclaws on our sport quads for many winters and theres just nothing that can keep up with them.....I remember last winter we were out......... me on my ds with bearclaws and my friend on his 440 ex with bearclaws and another friend with geckos or something on his 400ex......we had to pull and push him practically everywhere in the powder.
