I have some flywheels, cut and uncut in my shop. I'll check them this week and see all the different weights.

How does drastic lightening effect the charging system?

 

i just did one,i got about a pound off the hub and roughly 1/2 lb off the flywheel itself
i doubt 2.5lbs VERY much unless the magnet got the heave hoe,the big steel hub weights about 2.5lbs itself and the flywheel is around 3lbs all stock

 

Flywheel?? are you meaning the big starter sprag gear that is in the back of the flywheel hub???

The 04 and newer are already lighter , with holes. These don't spin when the motor is running.

 

no i mean the hub the flywheel bolts to,this is a 1st year motor though

 

Stock Flywheel hub (bolts to crank) 2lbs 4oz
Lightened 1lb 6oz

pick up magnet 2lbs 15.5oz
(It looks like you may take
some off the out side??? but
you lose the zero balancing holes
and weakens the metal band out
side the magnet)


Starter flywheel gear 1lb 2.5oz
(This does not rotate when
the motor is running)

 

those numbers look just like what we got.
