WOW, How would you hold it together after cutting the end off ??? It's a pressed and sealed type unit. Looks like it would sling apart with out being re crimped???? Plus re balancing it for zero balance.</end quote></div>

No idea, I have not seen one cut that much. I'm going off a thread I started when I was looking into a lightened flywheel myself.

Faster rev, lighter all around mass, less rotating weight. Trust me it will totally change the power delivery in a good way.

I've looked into this before. Quick high rpms is the good thing. The bad thing is that you lose momentum energy of the flywheel spinning, which is good for getting up hills.

So if you ride redline on level ground competitively, it may make sense. The light weight helps is get rpms quickly, and lose rpms quickly too. But the extra weight of the flywheel keeps it spinning stronger longer when you need it on a hill.

Otherwise, that $250 may be a small part of the total upgrade cost for questionable performance gains: which all depends on how you ride it. Is this an ATV site or drag site? Maybe I'm on the wrong site, and sorry if so. Whoops!

I dune mine all day long and have never had one issue. And mine didn't cost me no $250. It was one of the cheapest mods I made and I really like the way works with it on. I do drag sometimes but it is not the only thing I do we are usually out dunin.

on the on-dunes forums someone checked one , eric cut it and then he rechecked it... it lost around 2.5 lbs.... as far as lossing( lugging power) the ds flywheel has
mass to spare, its heavy..... if i could find a aftermarket(lighter yet) flywheel
i would buy one.....

I have a spare from a BMW f650, complete with hub attached. It weighs slightly more than 5 lbs, scientifically determined by lifting up on it slightly. ( My postage scale only reads to 5lbs ).
Team Pami used to have picks on their website of the lightened hub.
