Default exhaust noise

i went to the dealer that sells can am in my town to look at the 450 ds, and didn't find one but was looking at the honda dirt bikes and noticed the 250 honda has dual cans on the exhaust. the first thing that came to mind was weight, the second was the last time i talked to sandbomber, he told me had a 200 plus dollar noise ticket from the oregon dunes. so i started thinking about the honda design and it looked to split from a single head pipe back at the swing arm area, so does anyone know if this was done for noise or do they see a power gain?

Not related to the dual Honda exhaust, but to quiet exhausts..

I have pics of two that I built in my gallery.

I built them as I could not find a quiet exhaust for the DS, these sound check below 94DB on well build stock bores and seem to work well.
