fried cdi
#1
while trying to diagnose the problem of why my ds would only run with jumper cables installed I decided to try another cdi. I installed the cdi and started it up and it idled fine like with the factory one.So I removed the cables and it still ran fine(I smiled). Then I hit the throttle and it suddenly shut off.I reinstalled the cables and it would not start just spin over, then I smelled smoke and saw the cdi bellowing smoke.I immediately unhooked it,(toast)then I plugged the factory one back up and It will only spin but not start! Can someone please help!I have a rectifier on the way, would it cause that because I do not want to fry my ron wood cdi thats on the way too!

Bad ground and you pumped too many amps at her and she found a ground in the ing. But it was too small for the amperage draw and smash that will smoke up a garage won't it i have watched a mechanic of mine do the same thing just before he went on unemployment... did you end up with a hole burnt in her.
