Default Dead 05 DS 650

This past season my DS 650 died in the dunes and haven't been able to start it since...Made a loud sound and died in the dunes like something seized, but I pull started it adb she fired up but could just idle and missed bad with more throttle applied, but that was fixed with 2 new plugs.

So now the issue with the electric start, I pulled the started off and tested it and it spun, then replaced the relay and it just does the same thing, just clicks when you hit the button...Anyone know what else i can look at...Pretty much going to take the whole thing apart and work on the electrical...Need some pointers though.

Thanks in advance.

Julian

are you saying it clicks, like a dead battery?

Battery was just replaced today along with the relay...Is there any chance that it could be the CDI box? And if so how would I check to see if it is good or not.

Voltage on the battery is 12.64v

Check and see if your lights work. If they do not work check the two fuses under the seat. I had a problem once, and found out that a fuse blew and replaced it and then it started.

doesn't hurt to check it out.

Does it not turn over at all? The sprag clutch may also be bad, as far as bad cdi, do you have access to another one? If so try swapping them and see if it changes.

you might want to pull the cover on the right side and have a look in there. it could be your cdi but that wouldn't be my first thought since you can pull start it. the more info you can provide the more help we can give.

If it's clicking when you hit the start button I would check ALL ground points. New battery+click=bad ground. Or new battery not being charged yet.

i had something fairly similar, it would run but only at an idle and wouldnt start unless you pulled it and all tht was wrong was the ground connection on the battery was loose. start with the simple things and work up, good luck
