When preloading the bearings you use the rear axle key tool (p/n 529 035 951), set a specific lb/ft of torque, back off the axle nut and apply another specific lb/ft of torque. That is called bearing pre-load. Can anyone comment on how much a rear axle key costs? Also would like to know more about the "wear ring".

 

Where did you put the fitting... Picture?

Replaced my bearings 3 times so far. First time it took everything out including the axel.

Axel was around $250

It cost me over 600 to replace. Everything got toasted.
