we've had zero problems with the 6.0 but it is still bone stock, but another family member has done a lot to his and no problems, the more i think about it the more i think it was a bad fuel issue.

Hey sandman I may be of some help to you I would recommend getting the inductive heat flash from your losal dealer I believe it is about 100 bucks to do that isn't to do with your problem, but that is the latest flash for your module that is out right now. What I would first do it make sure you have enough oil pressure because the 6.0 uses the HPOP(high pressure oil pump) to open the injectors and spray fuel. and if for some reason the truck doesnt have the oil pressure going to the pump then no fuel. the HPOP is losated at the rear of the engine and isn't easily accessible we lift the cabs off at work. does the truck start up at all still or no? just cranks and cranks? make sure you are getting fuel to the fuel rail and when was the last time that you changed the oil filter in the HFCM and the one on top of the engine make sure the fuel pump is turning on you should be able to hear it. I would take it to the local dealer and have them scan the modules and diag what it is they will just use their IDS and figure it out. It could be a few other things that I can personally think of to be honest with you like the CPR,ICP,IPR, etc.

I wrote a whole book then just realized she fired up lol, but I would recommend getting the new inductive heat flash for cold weather. You also want to make sure on the 6.0's to clean out the egr because they are known for sticking, turbo problems, and make sure you drain the HFCM of the water that collects and change the filters. The 6.0's are a good engine, but the earlier models had their defects if you know what I mean (head gaskets) etc. wish ya luck

We had the same truck for a work truck.....damn thing stalled in the middle of the highway pulling a trailer once.....stalled going up a hill towing a trailer which was fricken scary with a rig move in progress. Played around with the fuel shutoff valve and she fired backup and ran for about 15 mins then it shutdown again. We gave it to ford about 8 times they kept saying the problem was fixed but it never was fixed.....its sitting in a corner at our shop now. This was in temperatures sometimes exceeding -40.

Default truck died

Hey Bill, I run 18 of them out of my longview district and have had that exact problem out of four of them.... we checked and changed several different parts without any clear answers. what ours did is just shut down like it ran out of fuel but the next day ( or several hours after it happend) we would get ready to tow it off and the dam thing would start........last week we had one go down and it didnt start back up once we got it to the dealer, so they got a good reading on there computer. It turned out to be the fuel pump??? They told me they would send there dignostic in and see if this is a bigger problem than they expected. They are supposed to let me know in a couple of weeks...

well that is exactly what this one did, it is running fine now, but in my doubtful mind my waiting for it to happen again. but for the moment i'm going with moisture, although the moisture light hasn't flickered. It has been sitting a lot though, with a half tank or less, less than a 100 miles a week, tend to spread those fuel stops out. i did add some fuel drier so time will tell.
