Renegade and Outlander owners please read

LOL Yes, we are happy with our CanAms. I think you mistake satisfaction with arrogance. The only "Can Am time out" I have ever seen is while we wait for the "other guys" to climb a hill or negotiate a trail. Big egos? No I don't think so. Just satisfaction every time we go ride our quads. And food for thought, I believe the guys that did the most research are the CanAm owners.

Saying that all Can Am owners are egomaniacs would be like me saying that all yamaha riders wet the bed! Both are pitiful statements. I like mine, but it has it's weaknesses like all of them. When we have to work on one on the trail (it's not the can ams), we call it bad luck!

Had a Warrior, it's a nice dependable machine. But this one makes me smile every time I hit the gas so it gets my vote. That's not arrogance, that's just being satisfied for a change. Something that little 350 doesn't do.
If you want to crash into trees and flip your machine down hills, then you deserve all of the problems you get no matter the brand. Stupid is as Stupid Does.

Everyone rides what they like, every company has its up sides and down sides on everything. No doubt Can Am's are very nice quads, but others are nice to. Can Am has really raised the bar in a lot of areas, but I look at it as a good thing, because its a fact and everyone knows that the others are gonna do all they can to pass them back. Its a great thing for the consumers. I was never here to bash anyone, just to say problems with the spar frame is possible, not sayin its fact. But for someone to say its completely junk besides the motor is a little far fetched. Can Am is top of the line now, but like in every other quad instance, no matter class, everyone will follow suit and catch back up. Its the nature of the beast!!

I for one love the performance of my Renegade, in fact, there is nothing else like it unfortunatley. If you want real power, performance and available 4wd, there is only one quad with all those. In a perfect world, one without trees that you might bump into, then I think my Renegade is everything I could ask for. I just wish that if something was going to give, it wouldn't be the frame to give first. That's my only real complaint. Is it junk in my opinion, no, in fact I'm seriously considering getting an X just for the shocks, but that one con can be a very expensive issue should something happen. Now if only there were other bands that offered something comparable. Kind of hard to settle for anything less after being use to riding a Renegade.

well, I'm skeptical about the frame mod, I think if I had the same thing happen to me again and had the mod, it would just give some place else. The reason it gave where it did was because in front of where mine gave is where the frame is reinforced. I honestly think mine would have withstood an impact to the wheel better if there were weaker a arms to absorb the energy. I don't really think my problem I had is so much a result of the frame, but the fact that the a arms are stronger therefore the energy was transferred to the frame. That may sound strange to some, but in my layman opinion, the bow design shape of the a arms are resistant to bending backwards, therefore transferring the energy to the straight and narrow spar design. Which makes me wonder, if the spar frames were engineered with the same kind of principle, then the spar frame would be a lot stronger and more resistant to bending under stress. Maybe I'm thinking too much but it's just an idea.

I hit a stump the other day pretty hard. Enough to stop me. Caught it with my left tire hiding in tall grass. I do have the frame mod and have no damage from this incident. I am pretty sure i was going faster than 5mph. The only thing hurt was my ego.
I understand kas379 and agree for the most part with your opinion. I did not know about the frame issue when I bought mine but when I found out I immediately did the frame mod and put skids on. I beat the crap out of my outy and no problems so far.(Knock on wood).
I just have decided not too dwell on it. Just Ride.

That's a good sign, I'm hoping if and when I do get an X, I won't have that experience. People that have read these threads, assume I'm a Can Am "basher" but that's not the case at all, I love the performance of my Renegade and probably will get an X at some point, but from my experience with my Renegade I'll be sure to have collision on the next one just in case.
