Default Starter seal

Anybody got the part # for the o ring seal where the starter goes into the motor. Mines leaking and I cant find it on the schematic.

Match it up with a thicker one....can't go wrong with that setup. I have replaced mine with a stock size one and it still leaked.

You'll have to go to BMW to get the part if you want the same part. Look at the nose-cone section - it is Al. and probably worn a little too which isn't helping.

I ended-up putting some RTV in there. The O-ring thing just never seemed to work that well even with new ones. I was thinking about having my builder give me another groove on the starter nose-cone for a second O-Ring but, never got around to that. Figured the double o-ring would help?

that is a good thought on the second o-ring. the rtv worked great for me also.

I tried the BMW part # and it still leaked for me. I just went to the local Napa and matched up the size but went with a thicker one and it seems to have done the trick. It has not leaked for over a year now !!!

Default Starter seal

I think it was a #19 o-ring from an industrial hardware store. I put it in with just a little RTV. No leaks for 3 years now.
