Alright, so I'm leaning more towards the haulers right now. If they're lighter and I can get them to slide I should be very pleased [img][/img]

Now, more about this 520 conversion...

it's just a different chain right? I understand that if the types of metal are different between the sprockets and the chain I would have to change those too so they wear evenly. I've also heard about an x-ring chain? what's the difference between all these?</end quote></div>

The conversion is more than just chain, it's also sprockets, as they will not fit. The 520 is smaller in width but will withstand the abuse from the DS. So if you do this make sure you get a full setup, chain and sprockets, otherwise it will not fit. There is a considerable weight savings, as much as 7lbs just between the 530 (stock) and the 520 (not) chain and sprockets. As far as the x-ring or o-ring or non o-ring or the Ti-moly, it all depends on what YOU want, several will insist that the x-ring is perfect others say o-ring, and some others will say non o-ring. Personally I went with the Sidewinder Ti-moly chain and sprockets and have not had a problem.

I'm gonna plan on gettin haulers since the sandstars are heavier.

and im understanding that the number (520) in the chain is the width. makes lots of sense now! if that saves 7 lbs. thats awesome! that's a lot of weight just from sprockets and chain. less rotating mass is always good

now the type of chain (x-ring, o-ring, non o-ring, ti-moly) is just a matter of opinion and really no huge advantages or disadvantages either way. I'll do some research on them when it's time. right now I should save my money and worry about a chain later.

thanks for all the helps guys, amazing how you can learn so much in such a short period of time by word of mouth!

Yes the types of chain just depends on rider preference, either chain will be a big improvement.

That is an interesting little tid bit of info they have about that new chain on the web site. It is not too overly high priced for a new product. Not sure that I would really gain anything from it at this point though. However for someone changing over, it may be worth it.....

When I was looking at Sprocket combos on the DS and the LT Mike over there at sidewinder was all wound up about that new chain, saying it should out last any other chain, what are they asking for 120 link O ring 520?
