To be honest Drgon the ds will go well past 8500 with the stock vavle springs. On the big girl the yellow nitro bike which it was a pami 760 on nitro and run stock springs forever. And laid a whoppin on all commers for several years. beat only by jeffrivercity .when i had it freshend up by the preacher he insisted on shim under bucket or he would not build it so i gave in.

whats the max rpms allowed by the big gun? i can pull 9k in 5th with it, and if i miss a shift and it revs i DO NOT HIT A REV LIMITER. im pretty sure the big gun has no rev limiter.</end quote></div>
My Big Gun for my 2000 had a rev limiter, I would bounce on it sometimes.

I received and just installed mine. I adjusted the needle clip down 1 notch to position 3 (as recommended by OMR).
HOLY SCHNIKES!!!!!!!!!
That really woke the bomb up!!!!!
The big gun made a very big difference...immediately! Took me about 20 minutes to put it in and adjust the needle. Much more mid range power and it revs out until it should be shifted (PULLS MUCH BETTER). I'm not sure how well it would work without the K&N and Dynojet, but it made the most difference BY FAR!

im still waiting to experiment, i wanna see what rejetting and exhaust endcap did for me so far, then i'll put the box on. i'm already in 3rd groove and took it for a test ride, just like you said sport!!! so i know once the biggun is in I'm gonna have to go take care of a tent problem, LOL

I just got the big gun on my bike. I haven't messed with the needle at all. Is that recommended? I'm racing with two buddies at the Parker 250 next week and I want to make sure we are set up properly. Since I put the big gun on there seems to be a minor "miss" in the engine - you can't come into a slow down without continuing to gas it or it will die. Any thoughts?

First- Pull out a sparkplug and see what color the porcelan is.
If light tan - OK If completely white. Go up one jet size.
Second - When you are in third gear(3000rpm) and hit the throttle - Does it accelerate or a slight bog. If slight bog, check your needle height - 4th from top works bests for most - for stock needle. 3rd for DJ
Third- Turn pilot screw out 4 turns from all the way end. 3 turns if you have a DJ kit.

Wow, thanks for the quick responses. Tomorrow and Tues are the days to fine tune. OMR, I will be giving it a shake out on Tues - i'll check for a bog or no bog. My partner riders have over 15 years on big bikes, currently YZ450's, and Banshee's. This is their first time on the DS and the smiles tell it all. Tuning it with your info will be easy for them. I'll try to do the forum "proud" without killing myself or (more importantly) my DS!
