Default wiring question

at the battery on my ds, theres two red wires that come together then get hooked up to the positive terminal along with the big main one. i dont think this is right and i'd like to get it back the way it should be. when i disconnect the extra wires the starter does not engage so it must have somethin to do with it. anyone know what wires these are and were there supposed to go?

That is the correct wiring for the ds so whats the problem. But there are three different wiring schematics for the ds what year is yours and why do you see this as a problem.I went back and checked your signature. And see you have a 2000 if its an early realease thats the way they were.NO PROBLEM still if its prof. done and it works leave it alone.. They normaly go to the hot side of the starter sol but it dosent matter either way.it is just a more direct and positive way of doing it.
