Well if he truly is 11.5:1 there should be no need to run race gas, but yes he should check what his true compression is. I recall hearing some of the earlier JE pistons were higher than advertised. At a minimum I would try going 50:50 mix and see if it runs any better.

I can agree with that. I know Scott was having some problems with one he picked up a few months back, due to it being a higher compression so that was my basis.
So yep, back off on the Octane and see what that does for ya. You will most likely be jetting up for the lower Octane. More fuel=more power!!!
