Rear Disc Brake... 00-04.. was there a a size change?

Rear Disc Brake... 00-04.. was there a a size change?
I'm building a Project DS (taking me forever) and ran into a stumbling block.
I put an 04 swing arm on there and upon sliding the brake disc hub over it hits the plastic swing arm protector. It appears it needs about 1/2" more clearance to fit over. Did the diameter of the 04 rear disc brake and up change? I'm hoping I don't have to revert back to my 00 swingarm.
