thanks a lot. ill keep you posted to see how the ds is doing. i have it with a mech. right now because he is giving it a full tune-up. my carburetor is messed up, so right now i am using a carburetor i stole from my friends totalled ds. im going to order a carb from mr. horsepower either today or tommorow, and in the meantime, i told the mech. to port the intake and he said he would send the ???? to get ported and polished. didnt really hear or understand what it was but my friend told me it would help my ds. i guess if its worth $400 to do it, it should at least do something good for the quad.</end quote></div>
Was your mechanic talking about porting your head? $400 for an intake port is way high... should be no more than $175 shipped. I'd be careful on a $400 head porting job. Also make sure the intake port is matched to the size carb you are getting.

I called the mech. earlier and asked him what the $400 port was and he did say it was for the head. He said he would port the intake for whichever carb i got. i sure hope it really does make that much of a difference. oh, and hes not doing the actuall porting of the head, hes sending it to some guy that has done all his porting and hes really good at it. well, thats the guys job of course.

i understand, but the mechanic has fixed other ds before and he has sent one or two of them to get ported. im not sure where he sends it but he says thats the guys job, so he knows what hes doing. i asked the mech. that what would happen if something went wrong with the quad because of the porting, and he said he would take care of it. im not worried about it because ive seen other quads hes fixed, and they haul a$$. i just want a litle more power on my ds, because now that i lowered it from the front, with a couple of customized raptor shocks, it wont wheelie at all when i launch. he said that the porting and the carb would be enough power for what i need it.

im gonna buy a carb from omw racing like i said before.a 46 lectron. its about $600 with the cable only, but eric recommends me to get the billet throttle, which would be $125 more. he says that the original wont open the carb all the way. does it really make that much of a difference that its worth that money?

If you can find a used one, all the better. But yes, being able to open her up all the way will make a very large difference..... The throttle is worth every penny.... Plus the cables for those throttles are designed to screw into the throttle houseing and not just slide in. I believe the stocker is set up to just slide in and be held there by a little rubber gasket.
